How It Works

The Player Builds the Playlist Itself

In M3U setup the playlist is given to the player as a ready address. In API login, on the other hand, the player connects to the server with the account details entered and fetches the channel groups, the film and series titles and the guide data itself. The only difference on the user side is filling in three short fields instead of a long address.

The practical benefit of this approach shows when changing device: when the same details are entered on a new device the playlist is rebuilt. The channel layout and the guide matching, however, are done again per device. For player options see the IPTV apps and the TiviMate setup pages.

  • Is there an Xtream Codes or API option in the player menu?
  • Have the server address, username and password been entered completely?
  • Did the channel groups form after login?
  • Is the same account not open on another device?

Player Side

Using API Login in Four Steps

API login is completed in four steps on the player side: the account type is selected, the details are entered, the data is fetched and the playback settings are checked. These steps progress in a similar way on all platforms.

  1. 01

Select the account type in the player

On the add account screen the Xtream Codes or API option is selected instead of M3U. If the option is not visible, the player may not support this login.

  2. 02

Enter the server and user details

The server address, username and password are typed into the relevant fields. The details are entered by copy and paste to prevent typing errors.

  3. 03

Wait for the data to be fetched

The player fetches the channel groups, the film and series titles and the guide data. This process takes a short time depending on the connection speed; channels do not open before it is complete.

  4. 04

Check the playback and guide settings

Channel switching, picture quality and programme information are tested. If the guide stays empty, the source is selected from the player's guide settings.

Enter the login details by copying them

The username and password are case sensitive; the chance of error increases when they are typed by hand. Copying and pasting the details and checking them again on screen after saving prevents most login problems. If login fails, the steps on the IPTV not opening page are followed.

Comparison

Differences Between API Login and Playlist Format at a Glance

Both login methods open the same subscription; the difference appears in the details entered during setup and in how the playlist is formed. The table below summarises these differences.

Differences between Xtream API login and an M3U playlist
Check item Why it matters How to check
Details enteredPlaylist address or account details The type of information entered determines the login method that should be selected. The Xtream or M3U option is selected according to the details shared with the subscription.
PlaylistHow the playlist is formed With an M3U address the playlist comes ready-made; with API login the playlist is built inside the player. In both methods the updates are reflected when the playlist is refreshed.
PlayerSupported login types Some players support only one login type. The options on the add account screen are checked; if they are missing the other method is used.
GuideProgramme information With API login the guide information can be defined together with the login; with M3U setup it can be defined separately. If the guide stays empty, the source is selected from the player's guide settings.
Changing deviceRe-setup time Since the account details are short, login is completed quickly on a new device. The details are entered by copy and paste; favourites and groups are arranged again on the device.
ScopeSimultaneous devices In both methods the subscription is valid for 1 simultaneous device. A separate subscription is planned for independent viewing on a second screen.

Which method to choose depends on the information shared with the subscription. For the setup steps see the Xtream Codes setup and the M3U setup pages.

Subscription Options

With API Login Subscription Durations

The login details are valid for the duration of the subscription and the content scope is the same in every duration option. The choice only affects the total amount and the monthly average.

3-month subscription

30 EUR single simultaneous device

A short-term option to try API login and the data fetching time.

  • Single-device use
  • Live TV, movie and series scope
  • Setup support

6-month subscription

50 EUR single simultaneous device

For medium-term use once the channel layout and the guide have settled.

  • Single-device use
  • Average 8.33 EUR per month
  • Setup support

1 subscription = 1 simultaneous device

Subscriptions are defined for a single simultaneous connection. Users who want to watch on a second device at the same time need a separate subscription per device.

Multiple device total

For 2 devices the total is 60 EUR for 3 months, 100 EUR for 6 months and 160 EUR for 12 months; for 3 devices it is calculated as 90 / 150 / 240 EUR.

3-hour trial and 3-day refund

The trial period is 3 hours and the refund period for subscriptions is 3 days. The details of the terms are on the refund and subscription terms page.

Each subscription is defined for 1 simultaneous device; the login details are not used on a second device at the same time. The duration options are on the IPTV prices page, and the scope comparison on the package comparison page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Xtream API Login FAQs about

What is Xtream API?

Xtream API is the interface through which players connect to the server with the subscription details and fetch the channel groups, film and series titles and the programme guide data. The player lists this data in its own interface; the user does not carry a separate playlist file.

Is Xtream API login the same as Xtream Codes login?

From the user's point of view it is the same login: the server address, username and password are entered. In player menus this section may appear under the name "Xtream Codes" or "Xtream API"; both headings establish the same connection.

Is a separate API address provided?

The details required for login are shared within the subscription scope. If the player in use asks for a different field, which detail is to be entered is clarified with the support team; entering a made-up address leads to the login failing.

Which players support Xtream API login?

Players that have an Xtream Codes or API option on the add account screen support this login. If the option is missing, the same subscription can be used with an M3U playlist address.

What is the difference of API login from an M3U playlist?

In M3U setup a long playlist address is pasted; in API login three short fields are filled in and the player builds the playlist itself. In both methods the updates are reflected when the account is refreshed.

Can the login details be shared?

The details are personal to the subscription and if they are shared the subscription limit may be exceeded. If the same login is used on two devices at the same time the stream can be cut off; therefore the details are used only on your own devices.

If API login does not work, in what order is it checked?

First it is checked that the three fields were entered correctly and without spaces, then that the same account is not open on another device. If the problem continues the network connection and the up-to-dateness of the player are reviewed.

For the differences between the login methods see the M3U setup page, and for player selection the IPTV apps page.
