Smart TV IPTV is a way of using a television with an internet connection to watch live TV, films and series with an IPTV player app and the subscription details. This page covers the steps for installing IPTV on a television, app store checks, connection conditions and simultaneous device scope.
To watch IPTV on a Smart TV you need an internet connection on the television, an IPTV player that can be installed from the app store and the login details shared with the subscription. Having a model with its own store makes this flow easier; on models without a player in their store, an external playback device can be considered. The working logic of the IPTV service can be found step by step on the IPTV technology page.
The first stage of the setup is to verify the television's app support. The players listed in the store can vary by brand and model year; therefore checking the model information before the setup reduces the compatibility problems that may arise later. By sharing your device model, we can assess together which player options are suitable.
Setup support
The setup flow consists of four steps: checking the app store, installing the player, defining the subscription login details and testing the stream. The details in the steps can vary depending on the brand of the television, the model year and the chosen player.
Search for an IPTV player in the television's app store. The apps listed can vary by brand and model year; if no player is found in the store, external playback devices are considered.
Install a suitable player from the store. Some players require activation with a setup code or device code; this step is completed with the instructions on the player's own screen.
The login details shared with the subscription are added to the player. Depending on the player, the login method can be an M3U playlist or Xtream Codes.
Once the channel list and the programme guide are loaded, open a short test stream; check the channel switching, the picture quality and the connection stability.
Not every Smart TV model has the same list of players. For the detailed steps of the setup see the IPTV setup guide and EPG setup pages; by sharing your television model you can assess which player is suitable together with our support team.
| Check item | Why it matters | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| BasicApp store support | If no player can be found on the television, the IPTV stream cannot be opened. | Search for an IPTV player in the store; if nothing shows up, consider Fire TV / Firestick or Android TV and similar external playback devices. |
| CompatibilityOperating system version | On older versions some players will not install or run unreliably. | Check the version in the device information section of the television's settings menu; apply an update if one is available. |
| ConnectionWired or wireless connection | Fluctuations in a wireless connection can cause freezing in the stream. | Use an ethernet cable where possible; on wireless, check the signal strength. If the problem persists see the Wi-Fi problems page. |
| ConnectionInternet speed and network congestion | Use of other devices on the same network affects the stream quality. | Test the connection before streaming and take the number of devices on the network into account: IPTV internet requirements. |
| ScopeSimultaneous device scope | Watching on a second screen at the same time requires a separate subscription per device. | Decide how many screens you plan to use and compare the headings on the single-device IPTV and multi-connection IPTV pages. |
| UsageProgramme guide (EPG) | Seeing the broadcast times in advance makes planning your viewing easier. | Check the programme guide source in the player settings; for the steps see the EPG setup page. |
The headings in the table summarise the checks that can be made on the television side. For the subscription terms (period options, the 3-hour trial and the 3-day refund) see the IPTV prices and refund and subscription terms pages.
The subscription required to use IPTV on a Smart TV is offered in three period options with the same scope structure. Each subscription is defined for 1 simultaneous device; if there is a need to watch on a second screen at the same time as the television, a separate subscription is purchased per device.
3-month subscription
30 EUR single simultaneous device
For short-term use and for those who want to stay flexible.
6-month subscription
50 EUR single simultaneous device
For those planning medium-term use.
12-month subscription
80 EUR single simultaneous device
The lowest monthly cost for long-term use.
Subscriptions are defined for a single simultaneous connection. Users who want to watch on a second device at the same time need a separate subscription per device.
For 2 devices the total is 60 EUR for 3 months, 100 EUR for 6 months and 160 EUR for 12 months; for 3 devices it is calculated as 90 / 150 / 240 EUR.
The trial period is 3 hours and the refund period for subscriptions is 3 days. The details of the terms are on the refund and subscription terms page.
The amounts in the table increase with the number of devices: the total amount is calculated as many times as the number of subscriptions (number of devices × the price of a single subscription). For the period options see the IPTV prices page, for a side-by-side comparison the package comparison page and for the trial terms the IPTV trial pages.
The setup on a Smart TV proceeds in four steps: a suitable player is installed from the television's app store, the login details shared with the subscription are defined in the player, the channel list and the programme guide are loaded and then a short test stream is opened. Because the list of players varies by brand and model year, it is recommended to check your device model before the setup.
The main criterion is that the television has an app store and that an IPTV player is listed in that store. On Smart TV models without a player in their store, external playback devices such as Fire TV / Firestick or Android TV can be considered; you can share your model information before purchase and get confirmation of suitability.
Each subscription is defined for 1 simultaneous device. Watching on two screens such as a television and a phone at the same time requires a separate subscription per device; the total for 2 devices is calculated as 60 EUR for 3 months, 100 EUR for 6 months and 160 EUR for 12 months.
The trial period is 3 hours; during this time you can test the stream, channel switching and picture quality on the television. The refund period for subscriptions is 3 days; the details of the terms are on the refund and subscription terms page.
First check the connection: try a wired connection instead of wireless or check the signal strength. Close the apps running in the background on the television and restart the player; if the problem persists on specific channels, you can write to the support team with the channel and time information.
Check the guide source in the programme guide section of the player settings and refresh the list. If the list still appears empty although the source is defined, update the player; the details of the steps are on the EPG setup page.
Instead of entering long text with the remote, players that allow login through a mobile app can be preferred; some players offer activation via a device code or a web panel. You can find out from the support team which player supports this method.
