PC IPTV covers watching live TV, movie and series content on desktop and laptop computers running the Windows operating system. This page deals with desktop player setup, adding an M3U playlist, network and power settings, multi-screen use and the simultaneous device scope.
Using IPTV on a Windows computer requires a desktop player that supports M3U playlists, the M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login details shared within the subscription and a stable internet connection. Setup takes a few minutes; once the playlist is loaded the favourite layout and the channel order can be edited.
Two points stand out on the computer side: the network connection and the power settings. Using ethernet where possible, giving the player firewall permission and turning off sleep mode in the power plan provide uninterrupted viewing. On high-resolution streams, turning on hardware acceleration reduces the processor load. For the general flow see the IPTV setup guide page.
Computer Support
Setup on a Windows computer is completed in four steps: installing the player, defining the login details, adjusting the network and power settings, and testing the stream. The network permission and the sleep setting are verified in the last step for uninterrupted viewing.
A desktop player that supports M3U playlists is downloaded and installed. The recommended settings can be kept during setup; hardware acceleration can be turned on later.
The M3U playlist address or Xtream Codes details are added to the player, the channel list is loaded and the favourite layout is created. The channel order can be edited by drag and drop.
The player is given network permission through the firewall, an ethernet connection is used where possible and the sleep mode is turned off in the power plan.
A short test stream is opened; window mode, full screen and second monitor use are tried and the switching speed and picture quality are assessed.
When the Windows firewall blocks the network access of the player, the channel list does not load and the stream does not start. Giving permission only to the player you use is enough. For details see the IPTV not opening and M3U setup pages.
The items below summarise the points to check on Windows computers before setup; each row points to a step that has a counterpart in the system settings, the firewall or the player.
| Check item | Why it matters | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| BasicWindows version and storage space | Some players may not install on older versions. | Check the version and the free storage space from the system information. |
| CompatibilityPlayer and hardware acceleration | With the acceleration off, high-resolution streams may stutter. | Turn on the hardware acceleration in the player settings and close the background applications. |
| NetworkEthernet and firewall | If the firewall blocks the connection the playlist does not load. | Give the player network permission and use a cable connection where possible: Wi-Fi problems. |
| PowerSleep mode and screen saver | On a computer that goes into sleep mode the stream is cut. | Turn off the sleep from the power plan and disable the screen saver. |
| UsageWindow mode and shortcuts | The controls may be hidden when leaving full screen. | Learn the keyboard shortcuts; use window mode for a second monitor. |
| ScopeSimultaneous device scope | Watching on a second screen at the same time requires a separate subscription per screen. | Choose how many screens you need and single-device IPTV and multi-connection IPTV pages. |
| SupportProgramme guide (EPG) matching | If the guide does not match, programme times and channel information will not appear. | Set the guide source and refresh the list: EPG setup. |
The headings in the table summarise the checks that can be made on the Windows side. For the subscription terms (period options, the 3-hour trial and the 3-day refund) see the IPTV prices and refund and subscription terms pages.
The subscription used on a computer is offered in three period options and every subscription is defined for 1 simultaneous device. If a second stream will be opened on the television while watching on the computer, a separate subscription is taken per screen.
3-month subscription
30 EUR single simultaneous device
For testing the setup on the computer and for short-term use.
6-month subscription
50 EUR single simultaneous device
For medium-term use once the channel list and the favourite layout have settled.
12-month subscription
80 EUR single simultaneous device
The lowest monthly cost for long-term use on a desktop or laptop computer.
Subscriptions are defined for a single simultaneous connection. Users who want to watch on a second device at the same time need a separate subscription per device.
For 2 devices the total is 60 EUR for 3 months, 100 EUR for 6 months and 160 EUR for 12 months; for 3 devices it is calculated as 90 / 150 / 240 EUR.
The trial period is 3 hours and the refund period for subscriptions is 3 days. The details of the terms are on the refund and subscription terms page.
The total is calculated per subscription (number of devices × the price of one subscription). For the period options see the IPTV prices page, for a side-by-side comparison the package comparison page and for the trial terms the IPTV trial pages.
A desktop player that supports M3U playlists is installed on the computer, the M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login details shared within the subscription are defined and the channel list is loaded. After setup the player is given network access permission and the first test stream is opened.
Desktop players that can load M3U playlists, support hardware acceleration and offer keyboard shortcuts give smoother results. Common media players can also be used by defining a playlist; however, IPTV-focused players are more practical for the programme guide view and favourite management.
If a cable connection is possible on the computer, ethernet should be preferred; fluctuations on the wireless network can cause freezing on high-resolution streams. A wired connection also speeds up channel switching.
The player asks for permission for network access at first launch. Giving network permission only to the player you use is enough; if permission is not given, the channel list does not load or the stream does not start.
Yes, when the power plan goes into sleep mode the stream is cut. For long viewing sessions you need to make sure the screen does not turn off from the power and sleep settings.
The trial period is 3 hours; during this period you can test channel switching, picture quality and the streaming performance of the computer. The refund period for subscriptions is 3 days; the details of the terms are on the refund and subscription terms page.
Each subscription is defined for 1 simultaneous device; watching at the same time on a computer and a television requires a separate subscription per device. The total for 2 devices is calculated as 60 EUR for 3 months, 100 EUR for 6 months and 160 EUR for 12 months.
